Biography
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, also known as Ignatius Theophorus (Bearer of God), was a pivotal early Christian leader and martyr. Born in Antioch, Syria, he embraced Christianity and succeeded Saint Peter the Apostle as Bishop of Antioch during the reign of Emperor Domitian, a period marked by severe persecution. Under Emperor Trajan, Ignatius was condemned to death for his faith and ordered to be transported to Rome to be devoured by lions.
