Biography
Saint Ida of Boulogne, daughter of Duke Godfrey IV of Lorraine and a descendant of the Blessed Emperor Charlemagne, lived a life dedicated to faith and service. At the age of seventeen, she married Count Eustace II of Boulogne, becoming the mother of the renowned crusaders Godfrey and Baldwin de Bouillon. Following her husband’s death, she embraced a life of piety as a Benedictine oblate, dedicating herself wholly to God. Her profound devotion manifested in significant charitable works; she generously endowed several monasteries throughout Picardy, contributing substantially to the spiritual and communal life of the region.
