Biography

Saint Bagne of Terouanne, also known as Bagne of Calais, Bagne of Thérouanne, Bagnus, Bain, Baino, Bainus, or Baiano, was a prominent figure in the early Christian Church. He was a dedicated spiritual student of Saint Wandrille and later became a Benedictine monk at Fontenelle Abbey in Gaul, which is present-day France. Born in the 7th century, Saint Bagne eventually rose to the position of Bishop of Terouanne, France, in the year 689. He served his diocese with great devotion, spreading the message of Christianity and gathering followers in the area of modern-day Calais, France. His missionary work was instrumental in establishing a strong Christian presence in the region.
