Biography

Saint Anderea Kaggwa, one of the Blessed Martyrs of Uganda, is remembered for her steadfast faith and sacrifice during the persecution under King Mwanga II. Born in the Kingdom of Buganda, her specific birth date and place remain unknown, though she embraced the Catholic faith in 1881, joining the growing Christian community in her homeland. Her conversion marked a profound turning point, leading her to live a life of devotion and witness amidst a society increasingly hostile to the new religion.

When King Mwanga, fearing the spread of Christianity threatened his authority, launched a brutal campaign against Catholics and Anglicans in 1885
