Biography
Vincenza Gerosa, born Caterina Gerosa on October 29, 1784, was an Italian Roman Catholic professed religious and co-founder of the Sisters of Charity of Lovere with Bartolomea Capitanio. In 1824, she met Capitanio and together they consecrated themselves to God for the purpose of educating children and tending to the poor in the Bergamo area. Gerosa dedicated her life to serving the needy and founded a religious congregation that continues to this day. Her canonization cause began under Pope Pius X on December 4, 1906, and she was later named Venerable by Pope Pius XI in 1927. She was beatified alongside Capitanio on May 30, 1926, and both were canonized as saints on June 26, 1950, by Pope Pius XII. Vincenza Gerosa passed away on June 28, 1847, in Lovere, Italy.
